The
largest city in North Africa and the home of 60 percent of Morocco’s
industry and commerce. The city, built in 1912 in art-deco and
neo-moorish style is dominated by the magnificent Hassan II Mosque.
In 1943 the city hosted the historic meeting between Churchill,
Roosevelt and De Gaulle. Today the city provides luxury hotels
and international designer shopping with restaurants offering
every type of cuisine. There is a large deep water port and a
modern corniche yet the city is still able to be identified as
Moroccan by its traditional old quarter and ancient souks.
