Every year Morocco hosts a full men’s European tournament
counting for Ryder Cup points in the appropriate year. The event
is usually played on either the red course at Dar Es-Salam in
Rabat, the New Royal Links course in Agadir (only available to
play by invitation) or the Amelkis course in Marrakech. The event
always attracts the top European players as well as the many world
stars who play on the European tour.
The Hassan II Trophy
Inaugurated in 1971 by the late King Hassan II this prestigious
event has been ever present on the Moroccan golf calendar. The
event is played on the red course at Dar Es-Salam and has been
supported by many of the greats of world golf including Gary Palmer,
Sam Snead, Billy Casper, Payne Stewart, Vijay Singh and virtually
every player on the European Tour including such greats as Severino
Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Bernard Langer and Jose Maria
Olazabel.
Availablilty of Courses
All of the golf clubs mentioned in this brochure are open to
the public. On some courses access is limited to players with
a handicap so certificates may be required. Green fees range from
100 to 500 Moroccan Dirhams (£7 – £30) depending
on the course plus caddy fees which are usually around 80 dirham
(£5) for 18 holes. Most courses close for one day per week.
